Vega Asensio Herrero
Founder. Illustrator and scientific designer
PhD in Biology from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), she has worked and studied in different European universities as a researcher. She founded the NorArte Studio in 2011, uniting her two passions, drawing and science, and driven by the need to improve scientific communication and dissemination. She is currently the coordinator and lecturer in the first national master’s degree in scientific illustration at the UPV/EHU. She is also the Spanish representative of the European Association of Medical and Scientific Illustrators(AEIMS), a member of EuskalIrudigileak and a member of the board of the Duranguesado (Bizkaia) artists’ association.

Ana Madinabeitia Olabarria
Illustrator and scientific designer
Graduated in Art and with a background in biology, she completed a postgraduate degree as a university specialist in Scientific Illustration at the UPV/EHU in the first promotion with honourable mention. To complete her knowledge she has studied a Master in Graphic Design and Multimedia at Inedi Design School. She is part of NorArte Visual Science since 2018 and teacher in the master’s degree in scientific illustration of the UPV/EHU.

Izaskun Alberdi Landaluze
Illustrator and scientific designer
Graduated in Biology and university specialist in Scientific Illustration by the UPV/EHU in the first promotion, she is also a specialist in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology by the Pablo de Olavide University, Seville. Professionally, she has worked in different fields of biology, from guide in the Basque Coast Geopark to research technician. She is part of NorArte Visual Science since 2018 and lecturer in the master’s degree in scientific illustration at the UPV/EHU.

Çinta Altes Duran
PhD in Biology, Scientific Translator and Yoga Teacher
Çinta has been working for more than 10 years as a technician for the Official Association of Biologists of the Basque Country. She has more than 20 years of experience as a Scientific Translator and teacher of languages (English and German) and Yoga. She is our coordinator for the course Effective Presentations and teaches the modules on nerve management, relaxation, non-verbal and para-verbal language.

Carles Puche Rius
Scientific illustrator
A world-renowned illustrator, he has been teaching scientific illustration courses in different institutions and universities for more than twenty years. His drawings have been published in prestigious magazines such as Mundo Científico, National Geographic, El Temps, Mètode, Ciència, Medi Ambient or Bouteloua. Manex San Sebastian Imaz
Illustrator and scientific designer
Manex San Sebastian Imaz, graduated in Fine Arts in Design and Creation with a 10 in the Final Degree Project and a master’s degree in Scientific Illustration with honours at the UPV/EHU. He has been awarded the JOT DOWN SCIENCE prize in the Illustration category (2023), and has received mentions in the KLIMAMETRAJE animation and DESGRANANDO COMICS awards. With a life dedicated to drawing, he currently works as a freelancer in scientific illustration, design and animation. He has 6 years of experience as a monitor in the leisure group Auskalo and has extensive experience in conducting children’s workshops. He collaborates in the NorArte studio providing support in scientific illustration workshops.

Tim Nicholson
Professor, Translator and Linguist
With over 30 years of experience as a teacher and translator, Tim’s field of expertise spans a wide range of academic, scientific and artistic areas. He collaborates with NorArte Visual Science on different projects as a translator, narrator and teaches part of the Effective Presentations course helping participants to improve their English pronunciation and intonation.

Patricia Marques Gallego
PhD in Chemistry and Consultant
For the last 6 years, Patricia has been a consultant in European projects and has more than 14 years of experience as a researcher in chemical sciences. She also works in transmitting and explaining scientific concepts to the public as a technician in communication and popularisation, participating in projects such as “Science in the Street” in collaboration with Norarte.

Anna Romero
Biologist, scientific translator and environmental educator
After more than ten years of experience in medical and veterinary translation, Anna launched in 2014 her most personal project in which she combines her passion for languages with her fascination for the natural world: ONE HEALTH TRANSLATIONS. As a collaborator of NorArte, she works as a proofreader and translator specialising in medicine.
